International research seminar for doctoral students "Joint Finance Seminar"/"Academic Writing, Paper Presentation and Discussion: A Hands-on Course"

People are busy and there are tons of research papers and conferences out there, which is why you are always fighting for attention and competing for conference participation and journal space. On top of that, people are impatient, get distracted, and tend to misunderstand what you say and write. In this hands-on interactive course, doctoral students will learn how to deal with these issues to successfully convey their message and sell their research. As part of the course, students work on planning and pitching their research ideas and papers, presenting and discussing their own research and that of established authors, writing concise abstracts and introductions, and preparing self-contained tables and figures that allow readers to skim papers. To “learn from the best”, students participate in one of Europe’s leading international virtual research seminar series where they witness how expert speakers present their work and audiences discuss research.
